Presenter(s) Biography(ies):

William Porta is a New York attorney who provides legal services regardless of whether families can pay for representation. After decades as a successful entrepreneur, Porta discovered that his then one-year-old son had a severe form of autism. After attending numerous advocacy courses, officials from New York State told him that if he really wanted to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities, he should get a JD. In 2010, Porta received his law degree with honors, a pro bono award, and a Master’s in Education focusing on disability law. The first case Porta took involved a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against New York State for its mistreatment of a young man with severe autism.
