In July at the Office of Special Education’s (OSEP) 2019 Leadership Conference, OSEP Director Laurie VanderPloeg asked for input regarding ways to modify the factors the Secretary will use in making its state determinations of state compliance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in June 2020. OSEP is now providing the public with an opportunity to comment and provide input to specific questions regarding components of state determinations including state systemic improvement plans (SSIP); Part B compliance [weighting], graduation outcomes, student performance on assessments; preschool outcomes, family outcomes. Specific questions have been outlined under each area listed. COPAA is reviewing the questions and will submit comments to OSEP. Comments must be submitted by August 30 to: OSEPDeterminations@ed.gov

Review the questions posed by OSEP on state determination factors.
