Advanced Advocate Certificate Program

At the request of many advocates – we are pleased to announce we are again offering, an advanced advocate certificate program. Attend the eligible Pre-Conference session(s) for Thursday/Friday AND then attend Keynote Friday, and sessions of interest to you on Saturday and Sunday. You will receive an advanced advocate training certificate for up to 24 hours of training, 

 

This is only open to individuals who have already taken Intro to Advocacy at the COPAA Conference, SEAT or another formal advocacy training program AND have at least 5+ years experience advocating for special education students (not your own child). 

 

The following sessions are eligible for selection. Choose from Pre-conferences AND Main Conference Sessions:

 

Two Day Training Pre-conference:

 

 P4- Thu/Fri - Advanced Advocate Training: Representing Parents in Impartial Hearings, 

 

OR

 

One Day Training Thursday AND One Day Training Friday: (choose one for each day)

 

T-1 - Thu One Day - To IEP and Beyond: Using Your Advocacy Skills & Tools Before, During and After the IEP  

T-2 Thu One  Day - Finding FAPE: Foolproof Practical Tips and Strategies for Successful Student Educational Programs

T-5.1 Thu Half Day-  Wrap-Around Legal Strategies

AND

F-1 - Fri One Day - Baselines, Bell Curves, Batteries, and Bias: Making Sense of Educational Assessments So You Can Make Sensible Individualized Educational Programs

F-2 - Fri One Day- Special Education Advocacy: The How-To’s and How Not-To’s of a Successful Practice

F-4- Fri One Day -The Key to Winning Due Process: Expert Witnesses

 

Main Conference: 

Select one breakout session per time slot to finalize your individualized certificate program of interest!!  

 

To Register for this Certificate Program:

Indicate you want to participate on the registration form and provide the previous formal training you have received. There is no extra charge to participate, however, you must have at least 5 years of advocacy experience AND register for and attend all four days of training at the 2019 Conference to be eligible. Participation in past sessions cannot count towards this certificate. 

At the conference, you must also sign in on the attendance sheet at each session you attend.  Each participant will be given an assignment after the conference to complete within the designated time frame (Due April 9th). The assignment will be short and is a mandatory part of the certificate program.
