 Advanced Advocate Training Certificate – New This Year!

 

At the request of many advocates – we are pleased to  announce this year we have a new offering, an advanced advocate certificate program.  Attend both COPAA Conference Pre-Conference sessions and then select sessions of interest to you on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You will receive an advanced advocate training certificate for 24 hours of training. 

 

This is only open to individuals who have already taken Intro to Advocacy at the COPAA Conference, SEAT or another formal advocacy training program and have at least 5+ years experience advocating for special education students (not your own child).

 

 

The following sessions are eligible for selection:

 

Pre-Conference

 

P4- Thu/Fri 2 Days - Advanced Advocate Training: Representing Parents in Impartial Hearings

 

OR

 

T-1 - Thu One Day - To IEP and Beyond: Using Your Advocacy Skills & Tools Before, During and After the IEP (Required) 

and 

F-1 - Fri One Day - Baselines, Bell Curves, Batteries, and Bias: Making Sense of Educational Assessments for Sensible Programming

OR

T-1 - Thu One Day - To IEP and Beyond: Using Your Advocacy Skills & Tools Before, During and After the IEP (Required) 

and

F-5.1 - Fri AM - Neuropsychological Assessments of Students with Complex Trauma: Helping Developing Brains Get Back on Track

F-5.2 - Fri PM - Trauma Informed Advocacy, Programming and Representation

 

Main Conference 

Select any one breakout per timeslot to finalize your individualized certificate program of interest!!  

 

To Register for this Certificate Program

There is no extra charge to participate, however, you must register for and attend all four days of training at the 2018 Conference to be eligible. Participation in past sessions cannot count towards this certificate. 

You must also sign in on the attendance sheet at each session you attend.  Each participant will be given an assignment after the conference to complete within the designated time frame (Due March 31st). The assignment will be short and is a mandatory part of the certificate program.
